不定形に迷って - Living, Loving, Thinking, Again

藤高和輝「パスの現象学―トランスジェンダーと「眼差し」の問題」という論文からの抜書き。
タイトルにある「パス」という単語を見て、「パス」っていったい何なのか？　と思ってしまった。エントリーの本文を開いて、「「パス」とは、出生時に割り当てられた性別が、他者に読み解かれないようにする実践を指します」という説明を読み、疑問は氷解した。でも、これは社会学用語としては、英語でも日本語でも「パッシング（passing）」として流通しているものではないだろうか？　passingはpassの動名詞なのだけれど、最近は不定形が（日本語でも）流通しているの？　まあ、「パッシング」は自らが「パス」するという能動性だけではなく、他者によって「パス」されるという受動性も関わっているので、それを考慮するなら、-ingよりも不定形の方が妥当なのかも知れない。
「パッシング（passing）」について、Wikipediaの記述を引用しておく；

Passing is the ability of a person to be regarded as a member of an identity group or category, such as racial identity, ethnicity, caste, social class, sexual orientation, gender, religion, age and/or disability status, that is often different from their own. Passing may be used to increase social acceptance to cope with stigma by removing stigma from the presented self and could result in other social benefits as well. Thus, passing may serve as a form of self-preservation or self-protection if expressing one's true or prior identity may be dangerous.
Passing may require acceptance into a community and may lead to temporary or permanent leave from another community to which an individual previously belonged. Successful passing may contribute to economic security, safety, and stigma avoidance, but it may take an emotional toll as a result of denial of one's previous identity and may lead to depression or self-loathing. Passing practices may also include information management of the passer in attempting to control or conceal any stigmatizing information that may reveal disparity from their presumed identity.
