中国の研究者たちが「パンデミックになる潜在的可能性」を持ったインフルエンザ・ウィルスを発見した*2。G4 EA H1N1と呼ばれるそのウィルスは2009年に流行した新型インフルエンザ（豚インフルエンザ）*3に類似ている。既に養豚従事者の感染が確認されているが、確認されているのは豚→人間の感染のみで、人間同士の感染はまだ確認されていない。
