幾つかのヨーロッパ諸国のIKEA*1のミートボールから馬肉が検出されたという。これがスキャンダルとなるのはヨーロッパの大方の社会の文化が馬肉を食べることを禁忌としているからであって、馬肉がタブーでも何でもない日本文化、特に熊本県や長野県の文化においては、これはスキャンダルでも何でもないということでよろしいのだろうか。因みに、福建省厦門のサプライヤーによって作られている上海IKEA（宜家）のミートボールからは馬肉は検出されていないという*2。
ところで、中国でIKEAは人民のための公園として機能しているのだが、上海は広州には敵わない*3。
それから、IKEAの好きなところは、商品の表示が英語でも中国語でもなく、どう発音すればいいのか頭がくらくらする瑞典語（＋その漢字音訳）だということだ。今身の回りにあるRamstaとかMalaは頭くらくら度が低いけれど。
梁文道「瑞典之謎一種――《了不起的宜家》」（in 『読者』*4、pp.233-235）はElen Lewis Great Ikea! A Brand for All the Peopleという本の書評だが、梁氏もIKEAにおける「無法発音的瑞典文」に言及している（p.234）。
