２月24日。ロバータ・フラック *3が逝去した。享年88歳。彼女は数年前からALSを患っていた*4。
彼女が大きくブレイクするきっかけになったのはクリント・イーストウッドの『恐怖のメロディ』（1971）で彼女の”The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face”が使われたこと。『恐怖のメロディ』は観ていないので、彼女の名を知ったのはやはり”Killing Me Softly with His Song”がヒットした1973年以降だろうか。ところで。この曲がネスカフェのCMに使用され始められたのは何時頃か。私たちの世代では、仮令ロバータ・フラックの名前は知らなくても、殆どがネスカフェのCMを視ており。あネスカフェのCMソング歌っている人ね、で通じる感じだったのだ。
