妊娠中絶から憲法的な権利というステータスを剥奪した連邦最高裁判所の判決の翌日、共和党のメアリー・ミラー（Mary Miller）下院議員（イリノイ州選出）が”President Trump… I want to thank you for the historic victory for white life in the Supreme Court yesterday”とドナルド・トランプに感謝を表明した*2。問題になったのは「白人の生命のための歴史的な勝利」という言い回しなのだが、読み直してみると、彼女は”President Trump”と呼びかけている。つまり、彼女は現在の米国がバイデン政権下にあるということを認めていないことになる。
さて、記事の最初にある MAGAという文字。最初は何のことかと思ったけれど、トランプ派のスローガン、Make America Great Again*3の略で、そのスローガンを唱えるトランプ信者、川衛兵のことを指すらしい。米国人は禍々しいという日本語を知っているのだろうか。

記事の最後には、メアリー・ミラーとは直接関係ないが、妊娠中絶反対論と、最近の極右テロリスト定番の陰謀理論であるGreat Replacement Theroy*5との関りが言及されている；
As for “white life,” some conservatives see abortion crackdowns as a way to keep up numbers of white citizens amid evolving American demographics. It plays into the racist “Great Replacement” conspiracy theory that Democrats and others are covertly plotting to replace whites with people of color and immigrants*6.
