『スラムドッグ＄ミリオネア』インド俳優イルファン・カーンさん死去

　アカデミー賞作品賞を受賞した映画『スラムドッグ＄ミリオネア』（2008）などに出演したインド出身の俳優イルファン・カーンさん*1が、現地時間29日にムンバイの病院で亡くなったとDeadline*2ほか各メディアが報じた。53歳だった。

　カーンさんは、2018年に希少がんである神経内分泌腫瘍であることを公表。治療を受け昨年仕事に復帰していたが、CNNによると、今週初めに結腸感染症のためICUに入っていたという。また先週、カーンさんは母親を亡くしていたが、新型コロナウイルス感染症の拡大防止のため、インド全土が封鎖状態になっていることから、葬儀に参加することはできなかった。

　30年以上にわたるキャリアを通じて、数多くの映画に出演。2000年代にブレイクを果たすとハリウッドにも活躍の場を広げ、『スラムドッグ＄ミリオネア』*3をはじめ、『アメイジング・スパイダーマン』（2012）、『ライフ・オブ・パイ／トラと漂流した227日』（2013）*4、『ジュラシック・ワールド』（2015）*5などの話題作に出演した。2016年にNHKで放送された海外合作ドラマ「東京裁判」ではパール判事を演じている。（編集部・入倉功一）

ジュンパ・ラヒリの『その名にちなんで』*6 が映画化されていたこと、それを契機にカーンが役者としてブレイクしたことを今頃になって知った（汗）。
