紐育州のAndrew Cuomo知事は、公営・民営の保険会社が同性愛者や性同一性障害の人に対する「矯正療法」*1に対して保険料を支払うことを禁止する旨を宣言した。また、公的な精神医療施設において「未成年者」に対して「矯正療法」を行うことも禁止されることになる。これは、昨年同様な法律が共和党に牛耳られた州議会で頓挫したための、executive actionである。
なお、ニュージャージー州で、「矯正療法」を行っていたクリニックが昨年６月に「消費者詐欺（consumer fraud）」で有罪になり、恒久的閉鎖・法人としての解散に追い込まれている*2。
