http://d.hatena.ne.jp/sumita-m/20101101/1288548135でちょこっと引用したスザンヌ・ヴェガのClose-Up Vol 2: People & Places。”Luka”で始まり、”Tom’s Diner”で閉じられ、アンコールに応えるかのように新曲”The Man Who Played God”が付け加えられる。
やはり最初の”Luka”と”Tom’s Diner”が印象深い。”Luka”は、オリジナルではアップ･テンポなロック的なアレンジで演奏されていたが、ここではテンポを抑えて、バンドなしで弾き語りされている。この曲はおそらくは〈児童虐待〉について歌われた最初の歌なのだが。

最後のヴァースのyouは語り手が語りかける相手を指しているのではない。語り手自身を指している。ただ非人称的に主語性が暈されているというか、もし自分と同じ立場だったら（あなたも含めて）誰でもそうするよねというようなニュアンスが付け加わる。英語の日常会話ではかなり頻繁に使われるのだが、youのこうした用法を学校で習った記憶はない。というか、”Luka”を聴いて、初めてこの用法を意識したのだった。
オリジナルではアカペラで歌われていた”Tom’s Diner”は、ハーモニウムみたいなストリングス・クァルテットで始まる。駆け出していくスザンヌ・ヴェガのハミングを追掛けるMichael Viscegliaのベースがかっこいい。この歌は〈自己意識〉についての歌でもあったのだと気づく。
