チャーリー・ワッツに先立つような仕方で、現地時間７月21日に、エヴァリー・ブラザーズ*3のドン・エヴァリーがナッシュヴィルの自宅にて息を引き取った。享年84歳。死因は公表されていない。なお、弟のフィル・エヴァリーは2014年にこの世を去っている*4。
言うまでもなく、エヴァリー・ブラザーズはエルヴィス・プレスリー、チャック・ベリー、リトル・リチャードらと並ぶロックンロールの最古参であり、ロックにおけるコーラス（ハーモニー）の基本を確立したと言える。それは、例えばビーチ・ボーイズ、ビートルズ、サイモン＆ガーファンクルによって継承された。
