新西蘭のクライストチャーチ高等裁判所は、2019年３月にクライストチャーチの２箇所のモスクを襲撃し51名を虐殺したブレントン・タラント*1に対して、仮釈放なしの終身刑判決を下した。キャメロン・マンダー判事は判決に際して、死者も生者（負傷者）も含めて全ての被害者の名前を読み上げた。新西蘭で仮釈放なしの終身刑という判決が出たのは史上初めてのこと。なお、死刑制度は廃止されている。
