1990年代にブレイクしたものの、21世紀に入ってからは徐々に表舞台から退いていった役者の ブレンダン・フレイザー*1。そのきっかけとなったのは、2003年に当時ハリウッド外国人記者協会（HFPA）会長だったフィリップ・バーク（Philip Berk）から受けたセクシュアル・ハラスメントだったという。HFPAの昼食会に出席したフレイザーはバークに股間を弄られたという。フレイザーはその後ハリウッドにおいて村八分状態になってしまったという。バークはセクハラ容疑を否認しつつ謝罪の手紙をフレイザーに送ったという。この事件を告白したのは#MeToo運動にインスパイアされてのこと。また、HFPAはフレイザーの告白（告発）を受けて、15年前のこのセクハラ事件を調査すると発表した*2。
HFPAは（オスカーの前哨戦である*3）ゴールデン・グローブ賞の主催者。
