今月14日、中国江蘇省南通市如東県*1の洋口港*2附近の海岸に体長15米以上の死んだマッコウクジラが打ち上げられているのを、近くの漁民が発見した。その時、もう１頭の鯨が泳いでいるのが目撃された。翌日、その鯨も砂浜に座礁し、死んだ。鯨たちの体重は、33屯とか25屯と50屯とか言われている（報道によって街々）。
南通*3は上海から長江を挟んで北の対岸。
生きた鯨或いは死んだ鯨が浜に打ち上げられるというのはやはり非日常的なイヴェントであり、世界の何処で起こってもニュースのネタになる。最近だと、
