カンボディアのノロドム・シアヌーク元国王*1が北京の病院にて逝去。スペリングからいっても、シハヌークと読むべきなのだろう。シアヌークなのはhを発音しない仏蘭西語の影響？ 子どもの頃は
シア脱ぐ殿下
と言っていたのだった。上のそれなりに詳しい記事を読んでも物足りなく感じるところがあるのは、シハヌークという人が（良きにつけ悪しきにつけ）現代カンボディアを体現していた人だったからだろう。その人物を理解するにはやはり浩瀚な伝記が必要となる。
カンボディアといえばクメール･ルージュ（ポル・ポト派）だが、シハヌークとクメール･ルージュとの関係も複雑なものがあった。シハヌーク関係の記事と同時に”Cambodia's brutal Khmer Rouge regime”という解説記事*2を読んだのだけど、これも物足りなかった。ただ以下の指摘は興味深い。ただこれだけじゃないだろうけど；
