Mr. Sanborn had been dealing with prostate cancer since 2018, but had been able to maintain his normal schedule of concerts until just recently. Indeed he already had concerts scheduled into 2025.

５月12日、ジャズ・サクソフォニストのデヴィッド・サンボーン *1が歿す。享年78歳。長らく前立腺癌を患っていた。
さて、DSはポール・バターフィールド・ブルース・バンドのメンバーとしてかの「ウッドストック」*2でサックスを吹いていたのだった*3。彼はセッション・ミュージシャンとして、夥しい数のレコーディングをこなしている。その代表作としてよく挙げられるのは、デヴィッド・ボウイのYoung Americanとローリング・ストーンズのUndercover。私としては、ブライアン・フェリーのBoys and Girlsも挙げておきたい。なお、『デッドライン』の記事のタイトルにあるSNLとはSaturday Night Liveのこと。
