６月25日、材料科学者のジョン・グッドイナフ氏*1がテクサス州オースティンの介護施設で息を引き取った。享年100歳。グッドイナフ氏はリチウム・イオン電池開発の第一人者で、2019年にマイケル・ウィッティンガム氏や吉野彰氏とともにノーベル化学賞を受賞した*2。そのとき97歳で、現在に至るまで最高齢のノーベル賞受賞者である。
