先週から今週になりかけていた頃、TVの画面上に突然〈津波注意報〉が飛び込んできた。しかし、この予想された津波の原因がフィリピンのミンダナオ島沖で発生した地震であることを知ったのは、夜が明けた後だった。

マグニチュードは7.6というのが定着しているようだけど、発表機関によって7.4から7.7までの幅がある。
12月２日の7.6に続いて、翌３日にはマグニチュード6.6、４日にはマグニチュード6.9の余震が発生している；
