現地時間の１月10日、希臘王国最後の国王だったコンスタンティノス２世*2がアテネの病院で息を引き取った。享年82歳。
彼は1967年の軍事クーデタによって国を追われた。1973年には軍事政権が君主制廃止を宣言し、1974年に共和制への移行が正式に決まり、希臘王国は終焉した。彼はエリザベス２世の夫、エディンバラ公フィリップ*3の甥、チャールズ３世の又従兄に中る。
