Borneo Rhino Alliance*1によると、現地時間３月27日、（マレーシア領の）ボルネオ島で雄のスマトラサイ、Tamが死亡した。彼はマレーシア領内に生きる最後の雄のスマトラサイだった。これで、マレーシア領内に残るスマトラサイは雌のImanだけになった*2。あと、インドネシア領内にスマトラサイの僅かな個体群が残されている*3。
