役者のジャン＝マイケル・ヴィンセントが現地時間２月10日、ノース・カロライナ州アッシュヴィルの病院で永眠した。享年73歳。「死亡診断書」によれば「自然死」であるという。奇妙なのは、その死が藝能ゴシップ専門サイトTMZ*1によってスクープされるまで*2、１か月近くプライヴェートな出来事に止まっていたこと。
JMVが出た映画というと、ジョン・ミリアスの『ビッグ・ウェンズデー』と（チャールズ・ブロンソンと共演した）『メカニック』くらいしか観ておらず、いちばんの代表作とされるTVドラマ『エアウルフ』も観ていないのだった。でも、Jan-Michael Vincentという文字列を見れば、えぇっ！　と感じてしまう。それは偏に『ビッグ・ウェンズデー』が凄い故なのだろうか。
