Daniel Maier-Katkin Stranger from Abroad: Hannah Arendt, Martin Heidegger, Friendship and Forgivenessからのメモ;

The Nazis did not have a philosophy so much as an ideology. Philosophy is about questions; the nazis came to power with answers. They misread Nietzsche, thinking of themselves as the superman whose rise he had predicted, interpreting his call for resolute toughness as a justificaiton for brutality. They misread Hegl and Darwin and concluded that all of history could be understood as a competition among the races of men to dominate the world. (p.78)
