控訴せず（笹川）

日本財団系のFondation Franco-Japonaise, dite Sasakawaが仏蘭西の日本学者Karoline Postel-Vinayを「名誉毀損（diffamation）」の廉で告訴していた件では既に「笹川」敗訴の判決が昨年９月に下されているが、控訴期限の12月23日の時点で「笹川」側は控訴しておらず、「笹川」側の敗訴は取り敢えず確定。
以下、「支援委員会」からのメイルを転載する；

Permettez-nous de vous remercier une dernière fois de votre soutien lors du procès initié par la fondation Sasakawa contre notre collègue Karoline Postel-Vinay.

Selon la loi française, la fondation Sasakawa pouvait faire appel dans un délai de trois mois, avant le 23 décembre dernier. La fondation a choisi de ne pas faire appel du verdict qui la condamne. Notre victoire est donc totale.

Under French law, the Sasakawa Foundation could have appealed within three months, before 23 December 2010. The foundation has chosen not to appeal the verdict that condemns it. Our victory is therefore complete.

私たちの同僚であるカロリーヌ・ポステル＝ヴィネーさんを相手取って笹川財団が起こした訴訟の際には、皆さんからご支援いただき誠にありがとうございました。改めて感謝の意をここに表したいと思います。

フランスの法律に従って、笹川財団は2010年12月22日まで控訴する権利を有していました。しかし、財団は、自身の敗北を明言している判決に不服を申し立てることを選びませんでした。よって、私たちの完全な勝利となりました。

Neil Clark氏はサッチャー登場以前の1970年代は西ヨーロッパにおける「社会主義」の絶頂期であったという。西独逸にはWilly Brandtがおり、瑞典にはOlof Palmeがおり、英国にはHarold Wilsonがいた。このテクストで紹介されるのは1970年から1983年までオーストリア社会党を率いていたBruno Kreisky。 「筋金入りのケインズ主義者」Kreiskyはその左派政治によってオーストリアを世界で最も平等でしかも富裕な社会にしたという。また、社会的な面においても女性の地位を向上させ、同性愛を「非犯罪化」した。国際的な面でも東側との緊張緩和を推し進め、自らユダヤ人でありながらパレスティナの大義を認め、西側の政治家としては最初にアラファトと会見した。
勿論、問題がなかったわけではない。閣僚の一部が元ナチスだったことが発覚したが、Simon Wiesenthal*1などの批判にも拘わらず、罷免を拒否した。Bruno Kreiskyは自らユダヤ人であり、親族をホロコーストによって失ってはいるが、具体的な犯罪に関与したことが証明されない限り元ナチスであろうと官職に就く権利はあると主張した。また、その原発推進政策は当然ながらエコロジスト側からの批判を浴びた。これについて、 Clark氏は彼には雇用の創出に結びつくものは何であれ善であるとする考えがあったと弁護している。
その政策にもまして重要だったのは彼のオープンな政治スタイルだったともいう；

But it wasn't just Kreisky's policies that make him such a hero. It was his style of politics. Kreisky was a true man of the people – he kept his telephone number listed in the Vienna phone book after becoming chancellor, so that ordinary members of the public could call him to discuss their problems. Modest, humorous and immensely likeable, he debated on television without notes and said exactly what he thought. The contrast between Kreisky and the controlled, PR-obsessed politicians of today could not be greater.

ともあれ、彼は今でもオーストリアで人気者である；

More than 20 years on from his death, he is still a cult figure in his country: a new poll showed that he is known to more Austrians than many members of the current governing coalition. And Austrians regard the Kreisky years as a true golden age – one where there was job security, prosperity and social harmony.

そして、 Clark氏は次のように結論付ける；

Instead, for the past 20 years, the main parties of the European left have gone in another direction. They have elected leaders – like Tony Blair – who have moved their parties away not just from socialism, but from social democracy too, and who have tamely accepted the international rule of money power. Bruno Kreisky, if he could see the Europe of 2011, would be greatly saddened at how the forces of capital have managed to destroy so many of the economic and social advances made in the postwar era, and how those advances which still remain are threatened by the new round of cutbacks.

The best way we can commemorate the centenary of this remarkable and inspirational politician is to do all we can to put Kreisky-style socialism back on Europe's political agenda.

勿論、それはごもっともな話なのだけれど、Bruno Kreiskyなき後のオーストリアが何故（例えば）故Jörg Haiderを代表とする極右勢*2が幅を利かす社会になってしまったのかということについても考察があって然るべきなのではないかとも思う。

社会学者のダニエル･ベル氏が死去。思えば、「イデオロギーの終焉」も「脱工業化社会」も彼が作った言葉だったのだ。伊太利系移民の米国社会への適応過程におけるマフィア集団の機能についての考察もしているし、1975年にThe British Journal of Sociologyに発表した”Return of the Sacred?”という論文は1970年代の宗教社会学における最重要論文のひとつといってもいい。ただ、「ギャングスタ・ラップ」の考察をしていたということは知らなかった。因みに最初に私が読んだのは『資本主義の文化的矛盾』。訳者によるベルへのインタヴューが掲載されていて、そこで彼がパーソンズ流のシステム論に疑問符を投げ、ゴッフマンなどの流れに期待を表明していたのが（当時の私には）興味深かった。

上の記事ではベルと所謂ネオコンとの関係にけっこうなスペースが割かれている。たしかに彼は、ユダヤ系移民の子どもとして生まれて、紐育市立大学を出て、若い頃の左翼思想（活動）から保守主義に到るという紐育知識人としてはかなりお定まりのコースを辿っており*1、その過程の中で後に元祖ネオコンということになった人々と交友関係・協働関係を築いてはいる。但し、彼は共和党からは距離を置いていたというか、一貫して民主党を支持していたということはあると思う。また、下の引用にもあるように、経済的には社会主義者、政治的には自由主義者、文化的には保守主義者というのが彼のモットーではあった*2。

Mr. Bell never hesitated to expand and revise his thinking through the years. New editions of his older books often include new prefaces and afterwords that look at his old arguments in the light of new developments in politics and society. And he was always quick to point out what he regarded as misconceptions about his work and his life.

In 2003, for example, an article by James Atlas in The Times described him and Mr. Kristol as neoconservatives who had felt that the Vietnam War had a “persuasive rationale.” He answered with a letter that declared, “I was not and never have been a ‘neoconservative.’ Nor did I support the war.”

Indeed, for all the ideological wars he had witnessed, Mr. Bello disdained labels, particularly as they were applied to him. Over the years he would offer his own political profile, declaring what he called his “triune” view of himself: “a socialist in economics, a liberal in politics and a conservative in culture.”

世間のことに疎くなっているなと思った。その詩集『くじけないで』が話題となっている柴田トヨという99歳の詩人の存在を英国の新聞の記事に教えられる。

Toyo Shibata only started writing when she was 92; now, as she prepares to celebrate her 100th birthday, her poems are finding an eager audience in Japan as it reels from two decades of economic malaise and faces up to an uncertain future.

Shibata's anthology, Kujikenaide [Don't Lose Heart], has sold 1.5m copies since its publication, in late 2009.

The self-published collection of 42 poems is proving literary balm to a country confronted with economic decline and questions over how to fund welfare and pensions for the growing population of over-65s.

The book has been the most popular title on Japan's keenly watched Oricon chart for the past two weeks and was among the 10 most popular titles of last year. After recording impressive early sales, the book was taken on by the publisher Asuka Shinsha and reissued, with new artwork, last spring.

櫻井輪子という人以外のものはどれもつまらない。そもそも「ビジネスマインド」だの「マーケット」だのを云々する奴は退屈なことしか言えないということはあるのかもしれないが、問題はどれもが試写会の直後に書かれているにも拘わらず実際に映画を観なくても書けるようなことしか書かれていないということだろう。実は、英語版のWikipediaにはこの映画について既にストーリーやディテイルも含めた詳細な記述がある。上に挙げたようなテクストは、Wikipediaを読めば書けてしまうのだ。

さて、俺は「この映画、ゴールデン･グローブで各部門独占というのに値するかどうかは微妙だな」と書いたのだが、Darren AronofskyのBlack Swan*2の方が映画としての強度或いは濃度は強烈である。この映画に「腐女子」がどう反応するのかというのはそれはそれで興味深い問題だが、少なくとも「ビジネスマインド」だの何だのがしゃしゃり出てくる余地はないだろう。Darren Aronofskyの前作『レスラー』との繋がりで言えば、フィクション／リアリティ、役割（role）／個人の決定不能性というか相互浸透性というテーマが浮上してくるのだが、勿論このような凡庸でぺらい社会学用語を以ってしてはこの映画のやばさを語り尽くすということはできない。

それから、『ソーシャル･ネットワーク』に関して、「下町の名画座で「アナザーカントリー」と２本だてになってるのがお似合い」という言葉があったのを*3思い出す。『ソーシャル･ネットワーク』と『アナザー・カントリー』を繋ぐもの――それはやはり〈川〉であろう。
