2022年９月、イランのテヘランでマフサ・アミニというクルド人女子学生がヒジャブの着用の仕方が不適切であるとして道徳警察に逮捕され、逮捕直後に不可解な仕方で死亡した事件を契機に、イラン全土で大規模な抗議活動が起こり、それに対して、イランの治安部隊が暴力的な弾圧で応え、結局、デモ参加者及び傍観者の377名（うち56名は子ども）が死亡した事件*1に関するアムネスティ・インターナショナルの報告書Iran: Lives Cut Brutally Short: Victims of Crimes Against Humanity During Iran’s 2022 Woman Life Freedom Uprising*2について。
治安部隊の暴力は、命令系統のはっきりした、目的意識的に「調整された」整然としたものであった。アムネスティは、故アリ・ハメネイ*3を含む責任を負うべき 87人のイランの役人を特定している。記事を読んでいて凄くショッキングだったのは、そのシステマティックな暴力が暴行や虐殺だけでなく、レイプも含んでいたことだ。男女問わずレイプされた。また、この2022年の弾圧は、2026年１月の、抗議行動への２日間で数千名が虐殺されたという弾圧*4の下地をなしている。
