５月末に2016年度のNeustadt International Prize for Literatur*1の候補者が発表された；

残雪*2（中国）

Carolyn Forché（米国）
Aminatta Forna（スコットランド／シェラ・レオネ）
Ann-Marie MacDonald（カナダ）
Guadalupe Nettel（墨西哥）
Don Paterson（スコットランド）
Dubravka Ugresic（クロアティア／和蘭）
Ghassan Zaqtan（パレスティナ）

女性が７名候補者に入ったのは初めてだという。
また、Annelise Finegan Wasmoenが英訳した残雪のThe Last Lover（『最後的情人』）が2015年度「最優秀翻訳図書賞（Best Translated Book Award=BTBA）」*3を受賞している*4。

また、『南方人物週刊』６月15日号の王艶「孤勇残雪」という記事（p.10）から抜き書き；

她尖利的目光令一団和気的中国文壇不安。她斥責格非*5已然”江郎才尽”、王安憶*6則得到”作品水準下降得不像話、大概做官做上了癮吧”的評価、高行健 *7在她看来也是”小児科、観念陳旧”。
這與她的文学起点有関。残雪的根不在中国、而在西方。她毫不留情地批判中国”天人合一”的哲学大系是自欺欺人。她用不停的逼問去接近真相、在言説中尋找自身的存在、而中国文化追求的是在沈黙中消解。
作家有両類、一類如同画家、描摹現実、彷彿時代的記録者、另一類如同蘇格拉底、永遠不與現実和解、用懐疑與逼問来審視我們的生活、残雪属於後者。
