土曜は育音堂で「怪力(Guai Li)」*1。北京のバンド。
予習として、Jennifer Conrad & Gissing Liu “Strange but cool”(TimeOut Shanghai September 2010, p.66)から少しメモ。
ヴォーカルの文雋は「中国のパティ・スミス」とも呼ばれているという。

She*2cites Kate Bush and defiantly underground Japanese musician Jun Togawa as influences, and tells us that she and her band ‘like strange things’, which partly explains their name, taken from the Chinese saying guai li luan shen. ‘It refers to something that happens that can’t be explained by science,’ she says.
ケイト・ブッシュ戸川純。また、バンド名の「怪力」は「怪力乱神」に由来。

What they come up with is difficult to explain, a bit like the band’s name. They’ve described their music as ‘left-punk’*3, which they insist is a bit of a joke and doesn’t have any political overtones. Xu*4 explains: “Left in Chinese has a meaning that’s “informal”. We call ourselves a punk band, but our music is not pure punk, so we call it left-punk.’
