1988〜1991年にかけて仏蘭西のミッテラン社会党政権で総理を務めたミシェル・ロカール氏が７月２日に逝去。享年85歳。彼は社会主義者であるとともに「熱烈な欧州連邦主義者」でもあり、1994年から2009年までの15年間、欧州議員を務めた。上の記事で注目しているのは英国のEU離脱国民投票*1の直後という死のタイミング。ロカール氏は2014年に、英国はEUから出て行け！ と主張していたのだった；
