仏蘭西のファッション・デザイナー、ユベール・ド・ジヴァンシーが現地時間３月10日、巴里郊外の自宅の城にて息を引き取った。享年91歳。
ファッションだけでなく、文化史一般において重要なのは女優オードリー・ヘップバーン *1との関係であろう。『麗しのサブリナ』に始まって、『パリの恋人（Funny Face）』でも『ティファニーで朝食を』*2でも『おしゃれ泥棒』でも、銀幕上のオードリーとジヴァンシーの服は切っても切り離せない。特にも『ティファニーで朝食を』における黒いスリムなドレスはオードリーにとってだけでなくジヴァンシーにとってもアイコニックな服になった。プライヴェートにおいても、オードリーとジヴァンシーの友情は彼女がこの世を去るまで続いたのだった*3。
