Lefort was a founder of Socialisme ou Barbarie (Socialism or Barbarism), a review that expressed the views of the radical libertarian socialist group of the same name.
His books include "The Political Forms of Modern Society: Bureaucracy, Democracy, Totalitarianism", "Democracy and Political Theory", and "Complications: Communism and the Dilemmas of Democracy".
