現地時間７月16日、元米国防総省の軍事アナリストで、1971年に国防総省のヴェトナム戦争関連機密文書（所謂『ペンタゴン・ペーパーズ』*1）の暴露を行ったダニエル・エルスバーグ氏*2がカリフォルニア州ケンジントンの自宅で息を引き取った。享年92歳。今年初めに膵臓癌の診断を受けていた。
