アレサ・フランクリン*1が現地時間８月16日の午前中、デトロイトの自宅にて膵臓癌のため逝去。享年76歳。

さて、アレサ・フランクリンの名前を聞いたり・読んだりすると、勿論幾つかの彼女の曲が想起されるのだが、それと同時にスクリッティ・ポリッティの”Wood Beez (Pray Like Aretha Franklin)”という曲の”Each time go to bed I/Pray like Aretha Franklin.” という一節が再生されるのだった。また、松浦理英子*3『ナチュラル・ウーマン』も。
