さて、先週末にPeter Hessler Oracle Bones: A Journey through Time in China*4を読了。文献目録や索引を含めると500頁近くあるこの本を一言で言い表すのは難しい。1999年から2002年までの世紀を跨いだ中国を主な舞台としながら、文革中に自殺した考古学者陳夢家*5の物語、米国に移住（亡命）してしまったウィグル人Polatの物語、深圳や温州に移住した英語教師時代の教え子の物語等が平行する。マルティスクリーンに映し出された〈中国〉。取り敢えず目次をメモする；
