中国の富裕層では海外旅行というハビトゥスが根付き始めたが、行く先々で中国人観光客の”bad social graces”が顰蹙を買っている。例えば、
日本で海外旅行が富裕層で根付いたのが60年代から70年代、思いっ切り大衆化したのが80年代だろう。その頃の〈海外旅行−マナー〉言説と比較すれば、面白いか。
The media in Singapore reports that hotel staff are upset with Chinese tourists spitting in their rooms and smoking in bed. The hotels have had to shampoo the carpet and replace bed linen after a Chinese tour group passed through.
Even Hong Kong newspapers have pointed out that some mainlanders lack manners and social graces.
