公民権活動家のジェシー・ジャクソン牧師は、現地時間11月１日にワシントンのハワード大学*2の学長と大学の生活環境を巡って交渉中に転んで頭を打ち、ハワード大学病院に搬送されたが、CTスキャンなどの検査後に病院を出て、交渉に復帰した。ハワード大学では10月から、キャンパスの生活環境が劣悪であるとして、学生の抗議行動が起きており、ジャクソン牧師を初めとする黒人解放運動の重鎮たちが学生への支援を表明していた。
ジェシー・ジャクソン牧師はパーキンソン病を患っている上に、８月には新型コロナウィルスに感染し、入院を余儀なくされた*3。
記事に添付されている写真を見て、全然イメージが変わっていて、吃驚したが、ジャクソン牧師も既に80歳で、私の持っていたイメージというのは1980年代のイメージなので、それも当たり前といえば当たり前といえるだろう。
