ところで、『羅府時報』の記事の出だしは、”A specter is haunting Germany — the specter of Karl Marx.” これは言うまでもなく『共産党宣言』*2の出だしのパロディなのだが、この記事の先ず第一の宛先と想定されている米国西海岸の読者はこの出だしを読んでくすくす笑えると、このErik Kirschbaum記者が想定している程度には、マルクスは今でもメジャーだということになるのだろうか。
