事故っていた - Living, Loving, Thinking, Again

U2のボノが昨年11月に紐育のセントラル・パークで自転車事故を起こして、かなり大がかりな手術を受けていたというのは全然気づかなかった*1。リハビリテーションはなかなか難しいようで、彼は元日早々、U2のサイトに「再びギターを弾くかどうかはわからない（it is not clear that I will ever play guitar again）」と書き込んでいる*2。ほんとうにそうなのかはやはり「わからない（not clear）」ということなのだろうけど、今年前半のスケデュールは全てキャンセルされてしまったようだ；

Bono has decided to cancel all public appearances and interviews for the first half of 2015 so that he can concentrate on his physical recovery. His sense of humour seems to have remained intact, however. Recalling the accident, he concluded: “I broke my hand, my shoulder, my elbow and my face, but the real injury this year was to my Irish pride as it was discovered that under my tracksuit I was wearing yellow and black Lycra cycling shorts. Yes, LYCRA. This is not very rock’n’roll.”

拙blogではあまりボノについて肯定的な言及はない*3。U2は別に嫌いではないのだが。なので、これ以上、ボノの話はしない。
英語で、bikeというと、先ず第一義的にちゃりんこ（エンジンのついていない二輪車）を指すわけだ。勿論、日本語のオートバイ、motorcycleを指さないことはないけれど。バイク事故に遭ったロック・ミュージシャンといえば先ずボブ・ディランを思い出すし、ミュージシャンに限らなければ、我らが北野武とか。
