12月15日に独逸の新興排外主義団体PEGIDA（Patriotische Europäer gegen die Islamisierung des Abendlandes）*1がドレスデンで主催したデモは15,000人の参加者を集めた。今年の３月に最初のデモをドレスデンで 行ったときには200人しか集まらなかった。また、PEGIDAはドレスデンのローカル団体であるが、独逸全土にその「クローン」が次々と出現している。PEGIDAの運動の特徴として挙げられるのは、そのコアにネオナチがいると推定されながら、露骨なレイシズム的な主張を回避し〈反イスラーム〉に限定していること、政府の難民保護にルサンティマンを抱く中高年層の支持も取り付けていることであろう。12月15日のデモでは、かつての東独逸スターリン主義政権への抵抗のスローガンだった”Wir sind das Volk”（「我々は人民だ」）が採用されている。
