スティーヴ・マリオットやロッド・スチュワート*2をバックから支えていたという感じか。また、彼はローリング・ストーンズのSome Girlsなどにメンバーに準ずるかたちで参加しており、セッション・ミュージシャンとして、チャック・ベリー、ボブ・ディラン、ブルース・スプリングスティーンを含む多くのアーティストのレコーディングに参加している。

ローリング・ストーンズということでは、40年以上もローリング・ストーンズと活動してきたサクソフォン奏者のBobby Keysが亡くなっている。享年70歳。 彼のサックスは例えば「ブラウン・シュガー」（1971）で聴くことができる。ストーンズ以外だと、Super Plastic Ono Bandに参加し、ジョン・レノンと共演している。例えば「人民に権力を」。
