日曜日は４箇所のギャラリーを巡った。
Bill Viola*2 Unspoken @James Cohan Gallery Shanghai*3
展示されているのは人間のエモーションを物質的且つスピリチュアルに凝視した”Unspoken(Silver & Gold)”。Transfigurationsシリーズの幾つか。とにかく美しいとしか言い様のない”Poem A”。しかし圧巻なのは”Tempest(Study for the Raft)”。様々な年齢・人種・ジェンダーの人々がステージの上に集まって談笑している。そこに突然凄まじい勢いの放水が襲いかかる。「嵐（tempest）」のように。Sam Gaskinの文章から引用してみる；

The video references Theodore Gericault's painting The Raft of the Medusa, which depicts the sole survivors of a French naval frigate wrecked in Mauritania in 1816. 147 people took to the raft, but only 15 survived the 13-day torment, which included dehydration, cannibalism and madness, before they were rescued. Tempest updates the crisis to something climatic, or perhaps an act of terror, that asks us both how we'll feel and how we'll react when the hose hit the fan. (TimeOut Shanghai April 2012, p.48)
