Byron Earhart先生のMount Fuji: Icon of Japan(The University of California Press, 201)が出ていることを先日知った（Stephen Mansfield “Fuji-san: reflections of Japan's iconic mother mountain” Japan Times February 26 2012）。エアハート先生は修験道の世界的な研究家なので、信仰の対象としての富士山の歴史ということになる。ところで、

「富士山」がGHQの検閲の対象となっていたことは知らなかった。また評者のMansfield氏は自らの「富士山」との最初の出会いが東京根岸の「富士塚」すなわち「ミニチュア富士レプリカ」だったということを書いているのだが、これを読んで、笑いが込み上げてきたのだった。
