50になるボーイ・ジョージ

「音楽的80年代」*1といえば、カルチャー・クラブでしょ(デュラン・デュラン*2とともに)。ボーイ・ジョージさん、来年カルチャー・クラブを再結成するのか;

そして、ボーイ・ジョージへのインタヴュー;

Hermione Hoby “Boy George: 'I would describe myself as progressively nostalgic'” http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/2011/feb/13/boy-george-culture-club-interview

ここで過去のドラッグ体験とかが語られているのだが、1980年代について語っているところをカットしておく;

You've described the 1980s as the last experimental phase in culture. Does that mean you despair of pop today?*3

I would describe myself as feeling "progressively nostalgic". There's always great music being made, but things have changed, the landscape has changed, and there's no point trying to compete with Tinchy Stryder*4. I don't really feel part of the pop scene. I do what I do and I have an audience and I work a lot, and thank God for that, but I'm not trying to recreate what I had. I do have a lot more downtime now and there is a separation between what I do for work and what I do in my private life, and I like that. Because there wasn't always, you know?

また、50歳になることを巡って;

You're going to turn 50 this year; are you going to have a big party?

I am certainly going to have a party, but I don't know what it's going to be. I'll celebrate it because it's a big thing. I've got happier as I've got older. I wasn't a miserable teenager, but I just think I'm more peaceful now.
