http://d.hatena.ne.jp/sumita-m/20100221/1266771000で「グリーンランドには4000年前からイヌイットが住んでいたということでは？」と書いたが、これは誤解を招く表現だった。たしかに、イヌイットは数千年前にグリーンランドに移住していたが、通説によれば、イヌイットの移住は６波くらいにわたって行われ、最後の移住の波は９世紀であり、現在グリーンランドに住んでいるイヌイットはそのときの移民の子孫だということになる。これはヴァイキングがグリーンランドに到達したのと略同時期*1。
前日引用した『読売』の記事では、「アジアやアメリカなど３５地域の住民の遺伝子と比較したところ、ロシア極東地域などに住むアジア系の人々と最も似ていることが判明した」とあるが、多分同じ研究プロジェクトを報じた2008年５月付けの”Rewriting Greenland's immigration history”という記事には、
とある。アリューシャン列島は米国領ではあるが。アリューシャンの先住民はアレウト人*2。アレウト人とイヌイット（エスキモー）との関係はわからないが、その言語は〈エスキモー・アレウト語族〉に属するとされている。
